| Whaley eyes Hawk as Warriors defeat Geoducks in double OT

Senior Lyndsey Hawk dished out her 4th assist of the season today in Corban's double overtime victory versus The Evergreen State College.

OLYMPIA, Wash. - In cold and rainy weather, junior Sarah Whaley (Gresham, Ore.) and senior Lyndsey Hawk (Medford, Ore.) teamed for the game's lone goal, as Corban's women's soccer team ended a five-game losing streak thanks to a 1-0 victory over The Evergreen State College on Friday in double overtime.
Both teams battled the elements and each other for the
first rainy 90 minutes, as most shots were of little threat to either net
for both teams.
Corban's winning goal happened in the 106th minute of double overtime on
a cross from the right side by Hawk that rebounded back to Whaley who took advantage of in the center of the penalty box. The game-winner was Whaley's first
goal of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Kim Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) recorded a game-high 5 saves en route to securing her third shutout of the season.
The Warriors were out shot by 9 (16-7), including being held without a shot in the second half. The only shot of the double overtime period turned out to be the game-winner, as the host Geoducks registered 4, 9, and 3 shots respectively over the first three periods.
With the win, Corban snaps a five-game losing streak and is now 4-10-0 overall, 2-3-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Evergreen falls to 4-10-0 overall, 3-4-0 in CCC action. Thanks to the overtime victory, the Warriors have leap frogged themselves back into the playoff picture with four games remaining on their regular season schedule.
The Warriors return to action tomorrow, October 7th, when they continue their adventures in the state of Washington against first-year program Northwest beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland.
