SALEM, Ore. - An unlucky bounce in the 3rd minute caused the lone goal of the game, as Corban's women's soccer dropped a conference contest to the Lady Coyotes of Albertson, 1-0, on Friday to open the final weekend of its home schedule.

Albertson's Leah Roach was the receipent of two lucky bounces en route to her first goal of the season. The first off a Warrior defender and the second when senior goalkeeper Kim Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) attempted to clear a loose ball that richocheted off Roach's foot into the back of the net. Roach's richochet came from just outside the penalty box, as Mendenhall charged towards the ball and attempted to clear it away from the goal.

With numerous opportunites in the opening half, Corban could not crack the Lady Coyotes' defense, as net-minder Sadie Hughes recorded a game-high 8 saves in the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, both teams battled defensively, as a mere 7 combined shots were taken (4 for Albertson & 3 for Corban). Pushing all ten players forward, the Warriors attempted to get on the scoreboard, but could not as they dropped their fourth straight game.

Senior forward Lyndsey Hawk (Medford, Ore.) led Corban with 4 shots (3 on goal), while fellow senior Charissa Bernard (Salem, Ore.) and junior Megan Waunch (Tumwater, Wash.) each registered 3.

Mendenhall ended the game with 6 saves, while Albertson's Hughes needed to knock away a game-high 11 saves en route to picking up the victory.

Corban now finds themselves at 3-9-0 overall, 1-2-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Albertson improves to 5-5-1 overall, 4-0-1 in CCC action. The Warriors return on Saturday, September 30th, when they host Eastern Oregon University beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Warrior Field. This will be the final home game of the regular season for Corban, as they conclude their conference and regular season schedule on the road during the entire month of October.
