Warriors conclude weekend trip down south with loss to Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Senior Kari Swenson (Fallon, Nev.) scored her first goal of the season, but it was not enough as Corban College dropped their final game of the weekend, 2-1, to Oregon Institute of Technology on Saturday night.
Trailing 1-0, Swenson (pictured left) took a drop pass from sophomore Sarah Whaley (Gresham, Ore.) in the 28th minute and deflected it off of Oregon Tech’s keeper into the back of the net for her 1st goal of 2005 (8th of her career).
Corban controlled the first 45 minutes of play and lead in all three offensive categories – total shots (10-4), shots on goal (5-4), and corner kicks (6-1) – but could not muster anything more than Swenson’s game-tying goal before the half.
Less than nine minutes into the second half, Oregon Tech’s Brandy Bocchi scored her 2nd goal of the game when she dribbled the ball from the corner and unloaded a low shot to the far post that got by Corban’s keeper for the game-winner.
Throughout, the Warriors controlled everything offensively, – total shots (21-7), shots on goal (10-5), and corner kicks (10-1) – but could not manage to score again, leading to Corban’s 5th loss of the season and 3rd in conference play.
Sophomore goalkeeper Karyn Allen (Merlin, Ore.) played the entire game and recorded 3 saves, while Oregon Tech’s goalkeeper Nicole Pence recorded a game-high 9 saves.
With the loss, Corban falls to 2-5-1 overall, 1-3-1 in Cascade Collegiate play. Oregon Tech improves to 3-4-0 overall, 2-2-0 in Cascade Collegiate play. The Warriors are next in action on Wednesday, September 21st, when they host The Evergreen State College beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Warrior Field in Salem.
