Corban falls to cross town rival Willamette

September 10, 2005

SALEM, Ore. – On a rain soaked field, sophomore Allison Budwell (Salem, Ore.) scored Corban College’s loan goal in a 3-1 loss to cross town rival Willamette University on Saturday night, a mere 24 hours after the Warriors battled Carroll to a scoreless tie.

Down 3-0, Buswell put Corban on the board in the 78th minute when she took a pass from senior Sarah Officer (Steilacoom, Wash.) and ended the Warriors’ scoreless drought at 200-plus minutes.

Willamette got two first half goals from Allie Tenold and one second half goal from Brenna Hindman, while Laura Uhlmansiek handed out three assists for the Bearcats.

Junior Kim Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.) and sophomore Karyn Allen (Merlin, Ore.) split time in the net for Corban, as Mendenhall recorded 4 saves and Allen added 5 saves.

Willamette controlled all three offensive categories – total shots (23-7), shots on goal (12-6), and corner kicks (6-2) – and took advantage of their brand-new turf field en route to the victory.

With the win, Willamette improves to 2-2-0, while Corban falls to 1-3-1.  The Warriors are next in action on Tuesday, September 13th, when they host Cascade College beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Warrior Field.
