Trifecta sends Warriors to second straight loss

OLYMPIA, Wash. – In its final game at the 2006 Arno Zoske Tournament, Corban's women's soccer allowed a trifecta of goals to the University of Victoria, as the Vikes handed the Warriors their second straight loss, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
For the second straight game, Corban recorded a mere 6 shots (2 on goal) with four coming in the first half. Junior Megan Waunch (Tumwater, Ore.) led the Warriors with 2 shots, while four other Corban players unleased a shot each.
The Vikes struck first in the 7th minute when Moira Hood scored on an assist from Liz Hansen. Just over twenty minutes later, Hansen became the scorer on an assist from Mariel Solsberg.
With a two-goal advantage, Victoria put the nail in the coffin in the 69th minute when Janelle Smith scored an unassisted goal to cap the scoring.
Corban's senior goalkeeper Kim Mendenhall (Windsor,Calif.) recorded a game-high 9 saves, as the Warriors were outshot by a 26-6 advantage.
Corban is now 2-2 overall, while Victoria finds itself at 1-0-1 overall. The Warriors are next in action on Wednesday, September 6th, when they host NCAA Division III member Linfield beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Warrior Field.
