Warriors Picked Second by Cascade Conference Coaches

August 22, 2005

SALEM, Ore. - Following a season in which Corban College women's soccer team finished 1st in the South Division and advanced to the NAIA Region I post-season tournament for the sixth straight season, the Warriors have been picked second overall by the Cascade Conference women's soccer coaches in the 2005 pre-season poll.

Corban has been tabbed to defend their 2004 South Division crown thanks to receiving all 4 first place votes (Oregon Tech did not report) from the schools within the division.

Concordia (Ore.) received all 8 first place votes in the overall standings, but Corban tallied 62 total points, which put them 5 votes ahead of the third place team, The Evergreen State College.

Tenth-year head coach Marty Ziesemer returns 10-out-of-11 starters from last season's 14-7-1 squad, including 2004 all-conference 1st team performers Kim Mendenhall (Windsor, Calif.), Sarah Officer (Olympia, Wash.), and Megan Waunch (Tumwater, Wash.).

Corban kicks off the 2005 season on Friday, September 2nd, at the annual Corban Classic when they take on the NAIA's No. 6-ranked Eagles of Biola beginning at approximately 4:30 p.m.
