PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior Jessi Schaumburg (Redmond, Ore.) scored a season and career-high 28 points on 8-for-14 shooting in leading the NAIA’s No. 17-ranked Corban’s women’s basketball to a 78-48 win over the Cavaliers of Concordia on Friday night.

The 5-foot-6 Redmond High School graduate was 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line, including 6 in a row following 3 technical fouls called on Concordia’s bench.

With 10:41 remaining in a very physical game, Concordia’s assistant coach got called for three straight technical fouls that awarded Corban six unanswered free throws and possession of the ball.  Schaumburg stepped to the line and nailed all six free throws and put the game out of reach.

Junior Tosha Wilson (Madras, Ore.) took control during the final minute of the first half when she had her hands in the final nine Warrior points via four free throws, a 3-pointer, and an assist to Schaumburg.  Corban entered the locker room with a 7-point half time lead and quickly pushed the lead to 19 points over the first five minutes of the second half thanks to timely shooting by Schaumburg and senior Erin Plotts (Mill City, Ore.).

Sophomore Jessica Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) finished with 11 points, while Wilson and Plotts added 9 each.  Sophomore Mandy Peterson (Portland, Ore.) pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds for Corban, while Wilson and three other Warriors grabbed 6 and 5 rebounds respectively.  Wilson ended with a game-high 7 assists, while playing a team-best 23 minutes.

Corban shot 25-for-70 (35.7%) from the field, while Concordia shot 16-for-54 (29.6%).

Concordia was led by Angie Woolhiser’s 10 points, while Denise Benedict had 9 and Joyce Oniah added 8 points and a game-high 8 rebounds.

With the win, Corban improves to 13-3 overall, 4-1 in CCC play.  Concordia falls to 6-6 overall, 1-2 in CCC play.  The Warriors are next in action on Friday, January 6th, when they host The Evergreen State College beginning at 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
