Carras named conference Player of the Week

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Senior forward Brianne Carras (Olympia, Wash.) was named Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending on December 9th thanks to a combined 37-point, 37-rebound performance versus NCAA Division III opponents, as announced today by the conference office.

Carras, a 5-foot-11 post player, helped guide the Warriors to three straight victories last week against NCAA Division III member Willamette, Linfield, and Pacific Lutheran. Over the three games, Carras scored a combined 37 points (avg. 12.3) and pulled down a team-best 37 rebounds (avg. 12.3).

Against Willamette, Carras scored 13 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Carras also recorded two steals and went 3-for-4 from the free throw line in helping Corban pick up a 74-53 win over the Bearcats.

Two days later against Linfield, Carras scored 9 points on 3-for-4 shooting from the field and pulled down a game-high 12 boards. Carras recorded a block and two steals, while shooting an identical 3-for-4 at the charity stripe as the Warriors won their second straight game, 70-55, over the Wildcats.

In the Warriors' final game of the week, Carras poured in a week and game-high 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field and grabbed a week and game-high 13 rebounds, as Corban avenged a loss from last season to the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran thanks to a 61-44 victory in Tacoma, Washington.

For the week, Carras shot 14-for-22 (64.0%) from the field and 9-for-12 (75.0%) from the free throw line, as the Warriors improved to 8-4 overall and extended their winning streak to three games.

This is the third time in the past two seasons that Carras has been named conference Player of the Week and first honor this season for a member of Corban's women's basketball team.
