This is the fourth straight win for the Warriors over Willamette and the second straight season sweep.  Corban earns the Capitol city bragging rights for the 2005-2006 season thanks to an earlier win over the Bearcats, 72-50, at the Sparks Center on the campus of Willamette University.

Over the first 3 minutes and 50 seconds, Corban outscored Willamette, 7-0, and then opened the second half on a 15-0 run, as the Warriors cruised to their 8th win of the season and 6th straight victory.

The visiting Bearcats did not score their first point until the 17:10 mark of the first half and were held scoreless for the first 11 minutes and 20 seconds of the second half.  Tracie Nygaard got the Bearcats on the scoreboard in the first half via a lay up, while Laura Payne hit 1-of-2 free throws to hault Corban’s double figure run in the final half.

Junior Brianne Carras (Olympia, Wash.) led all players with 13 points for Corban, while fellow junior Jessi Schaumburg (Redmond, Ore.) and sophomore Mandy Peterson (Portland, Ore.) scored 11 and 10 points respectively.  Peterson grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, while Carras and senior Erin Plotts (Mill City, Ore.) gathered 6 rebounds each.

Corban shot 27-for-59 (45.8%) from the field, while Willamette shot 9-for-52 (17.3%).

Brittany Farrer led the Bearcats with 9 points, while Payne, Caitlin Andrus, and Nygaard added 7, 4, and 4 points respectively.  Farrer led Willamette with 10 rebounds, while Payne and Kari Woody grabbed 6 rebounds each.

With the win, Corban improves to 8-1 overall, while Willamette falls to 1-5.  The Warriors are next in action on Thursday, December 8th, when they meet Northwest Conference member Pacific Lutheran beginning at 7:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center in Salem.
