Steigleman leads Warriors to conference win over Northwest

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Senior Jessica Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) scored a game and season-high 23 points, as Corban's women's basketball team picked up its first conference victory of the season, 59-47, over the Eagles of Northwest Saturday inside The Pavilion.
For the first time this season, the 5-foot-10 wing player scored 20-or-more points on back-to-back nights as Steigleman shot 10-for-17 from the field en route to her game-high point total.
Leading by three points (26-23) at halftime, Corban came out of the locker room and held the host Eagles to a mere seven made field goals on 23 attempts in the second half en route to securing the 12-point victory.
Along with Steigleman, junior Kailey Bostwick (Medford, Ore.) was the only other Warrior to score in double figures with 11 points to go along with a game-high six assists.
On the boards, senior Mandy Peterson (Portland, Ore.) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds while sophomore Emily Goette (Aumsville, Ore.) and freshman Katie Stewart (Eugene, Ore.) pulled down 6 and 5 boards respectively.
For Northwest, Chelsea Drivstuen led the Eagles with 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds while Rachel Travis and Dani Drivstuen added 10 points each.
As a team, Corban shot 22-for-59 (37.3%) from the field, including 6-for-20 (30.0%) from behind the three-point line and 9-for-12 (75.0%) from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Northwest was 17-for-61 (27.9%) from the field, 4-for-23 (17.4%) from beyond the arc, and 9-for-11 (81.8%) from the free throw line.
With the win, Corban improves to 3-4 on the season, 1-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Northwest falls to 1-4 overall, 1-1 in CCC action. The Warriors will take a break from conference play when they host NCAA Division III member Lewis & Clark on Tuesday, December 4th, beginning at 7:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
