OLYMPIA, Wash. – Even though sophomore Emily Goette (Aumsville, Ore.) and senior Jessica Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) scored 21 and 20 points respectively, Corban's women's basketball team fell in overtime, 70-65, to the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College Friday inside the Green House.

Trailing by seven points (33-26) at halftime, Corban came out and outscored its opponent by the identical margin -- seven points (35-28) -- to force an extra period. Unfortunately for the Warriors, the host Geoducks scored five more points (9-4) in the overtime period en route to securing a Cascade Collegiate Conference opener victory in one of three conference games that went into an extra frame Friday.

Along with the duo of Goette and Steigleman, junior Ashley Connell (Spokane, Wash.) was the only other Warrior to score in double figures with 10 points while junior Kailey Bostwick (Medford, Ore.) added five points before leaving with an injury in the first half.

On the boards, Steigleman led Corban with eight rebounds while Goette, freshman Jenessa Miller (Mica, Wash.), and senior Mandy Peterson (Portland, Ore.) pulled down 6, 5, and 5 boards respectively.

For Evergreen, Jennifer Solberg led all players with 22 points and 17 rebounds while Rosalind Lee added 13 points and 11 boards.

As a team, Corban shot 28-for-71 (39.4%) from the field including 2-for-9 (22.2%) from behind the three-point line, and 7-for-16 (43.8%) from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Evergreen was 26-for-60 (43.3%) from the field, 5-for-13 (38.5%) from beyond the arc, and 13-for-25 (52.0%) from the free throw line.

With the loss, Corban falls to 2-4 on the season, 0-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Evergreen improves to 2-4 overall, 1-0 in CCC action.
