Williams adds four more to list of recruits for 07-08

SALEM, Ore. – Four more recruits, including 6-foot-1 senior Rachel Harter (Grass Valley, Calif.) from Bear River High School, signed Letters of Intent today to play for the Warriors and ninth-year head Terry Williams beginning in 2007-08.

Harter joins fellow incoming high senior Samantha Navarre (Kenai, Alaska), as well as junior college transfers Ashley Connell (Spokane, Wash.) from Wenatchee Valley College and Tamitha Lambrecht (Grandview, Wash.) from Walla Walla Community College.

Harter averaged 6.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a senior for the Bruins, while helping lead Bear River to a second place finish in the Pioneer Valley League thanks to a 10-3 record. The 6-foot-1 forward helped Bear River put together an overall record of 25-7 before falling in the second round of the CIF Division IV tournament to Valley Christian, 43-33. Harter also helped the Bruins to the 2007 San Joaquin Section Division IV championship, as Bear River defeated Ripon, 57-27, to advance to the CIF tournament. As a senior, Harter earned All-Pioneer Valley League 1st team honors, as well as being named as a member of the North Optimist All-Star team.

Navarre comes to Corban from Kenai Central High School where she played in seven games as a senior before suffering a season-ending knee injury. The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 10.0 points per game as a senior, including a season-high 15 points on 6-for-15 shooting from the field against Homer High School. Navarre was named 2nd team all-region as a junior, while earning 1st team all-tournament honors in 2007. The captain of Kenai Central High School's girls' basketball team during her junior and senior seasons, Navarre earned the Coaches' Award following the 2006-07 season.

Connell, who will join fellow Knight transfer Margie Lou Correll (Ephrata, Wash.), played the past two seasons at Wenatchee Valley College where she averaged 7.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game as a sophomore. The 5-foot-7 point guard helped lead Wenatchee Valley to a 3rd place finish at the 2007 NWAACC tournament, while starting all 27 games for the Knights this past season.

Lambrecht played the past two seasons at Walla Walla Community College and averaged 5.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game as a sophomore, while helping lead the Warriors to a 6th place finish at the 2007 NWAACC tournament. As a freshman, the 5-foot-4 point guard averaged 1.2 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game while helping lead Walla Walla Community College to a runner-up finish at the NWAACC tournament.

The quartet of incoming players join high school seniors Jenessa Miller (Freeman HS), Ashlee Jensen (Yuba City HS), Natasha Crisman (Stayton HS), Andrea Greeley (West Salem, HS), and Katie Stewart (Willamette HS), as well as college transfers Kailey Bostwick (Portland State University) and Correll.

Corban will tip off the 2007-08 season on Saturday, November 3rd, when the Warriors host Golden State Athletic Conference member Concordia University-Irvine beginning at 2:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
