Ninth-year head coach Terry Williams, who returns to the helm of the Warriors following a five-year absence, has increased his recruiting class to five players for the upcoming 2007-08 season. |
SALEM, Ore. – Freeman High School senior Jennesa Miller (Mica, Wash.) became the fifth signee of ninth-year head women's basketball coach Terry Williams' 2007-08 recruiting class when she signed her Letter of Intent last week.
Miller comes to Corban after a stellar playing career at Freeman High School in Spokane, Washington. The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 15.0 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, 4.0 assists per game, and 3.0 steals per game this past season for the Scotties.
This past season, as a senior, Miller helped Freeman finished 2nd in the Northeast A League (NEA) and 3rd in the district, while earning NEA 1st team all-league honors and being named as a member of the Washington State Coaches' Association all-state team.
As a sophomore, Miller helped Freeman to a second place finish in state after the Scotties captured both the league and district titles. During her junior season, Miller helped guide the Scotties to their second straight district title, while finishing 1st in the region and 4th at the state tournament.
"Jennesa is someone that we are very excited about adding to the team next season," said Williams. "With her three years of experience at Freeman in a tough league, she will add a lot to the college, athletic department, and women's basketball program at Corban."
Away from the court, Miller excels in the classroom as she is a 4-year member of the Freeman High School honor roll, while earning NEA academic all-league 1st team as a senior and 2nd team as a junior and sophomore.
Miller joins
local high school seniors Natasha Crisman (Stayton HS), Andrea Greeley (West Salem, HS), and Katie Stewart (Willamette HS), and junior college transfer Margie Lou Correl (Wenatchee Valley College), as the fifth member of the incoming recruiting class for next season. As well, Miller follows former Freeman High School boys' basketball coach and current Corban Director of Athletics, John Nelson, to the college.
Corban will tip off the 2007-08 season on Saturday, November 3rd, when the Warriors host Golden State Athletic Conference member Concordia University-Irvine beginning at 2:00 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
