LA GRANDE, Ore. – Junior Brianne Carras (Olympia, Wash.) scored a team-high 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field, but it was enough as Corban’s women’s basketball team fell in the conference post-season tournament semifinals to Eastern Oregon, 68-47, on Friday night.

Along with her team-high in points, the 5-foot-11 Northwest Christian High School graduate grabbed a team-high 6 rebounds, while shooting a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

Despite having a slim 3-point lead with 14:25 remaining in the game, Corban committed 26 turnovers that led to 29 Mountaineer points and 11 fast break points.

Sophomore Jessica Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) and senior Erin Plotts (Mill City, Ore.) added 8 and 7 points respectively, while freshman Emily Kindle (Stayton, Ore.) pulled down 5 boards.

Plotts and fellow senior Andrea Hansen (Mulino, Ore.) played their final game in a Warrior uniform and finished with a combined 7 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal.

Corban shot 20-for-52 (38.5%) from the field, including 1-for-6 from beyond the arc, and 7-for-11 from the free throw line.

Eastern Oregon (22-7 overall, 14-4 CCC) was led by conference Player of the Year Heidi Horobowski’s game-high 19 points, while Adria Layne poured in 14 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.  Sheena Henderson added 12 points and 5 rebounds, while Christie Weaver contributed 10 points and 4 rebounds.

The Warriors conclude the 2005-06 season with an overall record of 25-7, tying the school record for most wins (25 in 1996-97), and breaking the school record for highest winning percentage (.781).  The 1996-97 team had the previous mark of .735 (25-9) under the tutelage of former head coach Terry Williams.

Corban will have to wait and see if it receives one of the at-large berths into the NAIA Division II national tournament on March 8-14 in Sioux City, Iowa.
