Wilson shoots Warriors to much-needed win over Oregon Tech

SALEM, Ore. – Junior Tosha Wilson (Madras, Ore.) scored a game-high 22 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the field and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, as Corban’s women’s basketball team earned a much-needed victory over Oregon Institute of Technology, 73-61, to secure the number three seed in the Cascade Collegiate Conference post-season tournament.
Wilson was a perfect 10-for-10 from free throw line, as she helped Corban (23-6 overall, 13-4 CCC) lead from wire-to-wire. The Warriors jumped out to a 17-8 lead in the first six minutes, before cruising to a 40-22 halftime lead. Over the final twenty minutes, the Warriors led by as many as 21 points before settling for the final margin of 12.
Fellow junior Jessi Schaumburg (Redmond, Ore.) and sophomore Jessica Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) chipped in with 11 points each, while freshman Emily Kindle (Stayton, Ore.) added 10. Corban was 20-for-53 (37.7%) from the field, including 4-for-14 (28.6%) from beyond the arc, while making a season-high 29 free throws.
Oregon Tech (20-8 overall, 11-6 CCC) was led by Ashley Dubrey’s 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Samantha Gilbert and Lindsey Carmichael added 13 points each. The Hustlin’ Owls were 23-for-64 (35.9%) from the field, including 4-for-21 (19.0%) from beyond the 3-point line and 11-for-18 (61.1%) from the free throw line.
The Warriors are next in action on Saturday, February 18th, when they travel to Ashland for their final regular season contest against Southern Oregon beginning at 5:30 p.m.
