Steigleman shoots Corban to win over Lady Thunderbirds

SALEM, Ore. – Sophomore Jessica Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) scored a team-high 21 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the field, as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics’ (NAIA) No. 32-ranked Corban’s women’s basketball team defeated Cascade, 92-40, on Friday night.
A quintet of Warriors, including junior Jessi Schaumburg (Redmond, Ore.), senior Erin Plotts (Mill City, Ore.), junior Kendall Dionne (Brownsville, Ore.), and freshman Emily Kindle (Stayton, Ore.), scored in double figures led by the second-year player’s performance.
All eleven Corban players scored at least 2 points, as the team combined to shoot 39-for-76 (51.3%) from the field. The Warriors shot a season-high 58.8% (10-for-17) from beyond the arc, as Plotts led the team with 4 long distance buckets.
Schaumburg recorded her first double-double of the season thanks to a game-high 10 rebounds, while Dionne and junior Tosha Wilson (Madras, Ore.) grabbed 7 rebounds each.
Corban (22-5 overall, 12-3 CCC) led from start-to-finish thanks to a 10-0 run to open the game and then extended their lead to as much as 53 with 4:14 left in the game.
Kristen Woller led Cascade (2-25 overall, 0-15 CCC) with a game-high 23 points and 6 rebounds, while Jamie Martinez and Sharleen Agee added 6 and 5 points respectively.
The Warriors are next in action on Saturday, February 11th, when they host the NAIA’s No. 23-ranked Warner Pacific beginning at 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center. The game will be a battle for the top spot in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings, as Corban is only 1 game behind the Knights, who defeated Concordia by 2 points (70-68) tonight in Portland, to set up tomorrow night’s key match up.
Prior to the tip-off, Corban will be honoring its two seniors, Plotts and Andrea Hansen (Mulino, Ore.), that will be donning a Warrior uniform for the final time during the regular season on Warrior Court.
