Warriors hit double-double mark with win over Eagles of Northwest,

Junior Brianne Carras grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds and shot a team and season-best 10-for-10 from the free throw line against Northwest.

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Sophomore Jessica Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) scored a team-high 20 points on 8-for-9 shooting from the field and 4-for-6 from the free throw line, as the NAIA’s No. 26-ranked Corban’s women’s basketball team hit the double-double mark in wins with a 78-72 victory over Northwest on Friday night.

The Warriors are currently 21-4 overall, 11-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play and sit one game behind conference leader Warner Pacific.  The Warriors and Knights will meet in a much anticipated rematch next Saturday inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.  Corban earned their fifth straight win tonight, while Warner Pacific defeated Albertson, 61-59, to earn their fifth straight victory.

Steigleman has led the Warriors in scoring in each of their last three games, as she has scored a combined 53 points (avg. 17.7) and currently leads the team in scoring with an average of 12.0 points per game.

A junior trio backed up the 5-foot-10 Churchill High School graduate, as they combined to score 38 points, as Jessi Schaumburg (Redmond, Ore.) added 15 points, Brianne Carras (Olympia, Wash.) scored 14 points and grabbed a game and season-high 13 rebounds, and Tosha Wilson (Madras, Ore.) added 12 points.  Junior Kendall Dionne (Brownsville, Ore.) aided Carras on the boards with 4 rebounds, while three other Warriors grabbed 3 rebounds.

Corban shot 23-for-52 (44.2%) from the field, 5-for-13 (38.5%) from behind the 3-point line, and 27-for-37 (73.0%) from the free throw line.  Carras was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, while Wilson went 7-for-11 and Schaumburg was 5-for-6.

Northwest (9-17 overall, 5-9 in CCC play) was 24-for-55 (43.6%) from the field, as Kim Sandberg led all players with 24 points.  Brittany Bowsher and Sam McCracken round out the Eagles in double figures with 12 points each, while McCracken pulled down a team-high 9 rebounds.

The Warriors are next in action on Saturday, February 4th, when they continue conference play against the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Olympia, Washington.
