Warriors come from behind to defeat Eagles of Northwest

SALEM, Ore. – Junior Tosha Wilson (Madras, Ore.) led the NAIA’s No. 17-ranked Corban’s women’s basketball in scoring for the second straight night with a game-high 28 points, as the Warriors came from behind to defeat Northwest, 68-57, on Saturday night.
The 5-foot-6 Madras High School graduate was 10-for-20 from the field and 7-for-8 from the free throw line, as she has scored 48 points in the past 24 hours and led Corban to their fourth straight win. The Warriors have won 13 of their last 15 and 4 of their last 5 conference games.
Corban fell behind quickly 7-0, but came back and took their first lead at 16-15 with 10:48 remaining in the first half. Both teams battled back and forth for the rest of the first half and then continued that trend throughout much of the second half. The Warriors began using most of the shot clock near the end of the game and ran their offense thoroughly en route to the final margin of 11 points.
Freshman Emily Kindle (Stayton, Ore.) added a career-high 16 points and 12 rebounds, while sophomore Jessica Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) and junior Brianne Carras (Olympia, Wash.) chipped in with 7 and 5 points respectively.
Corban shot 22-for-65 (33.8%) from the field, while Northwest shot 21-for-69 (30.4%).
Northwest was led by Rachel Travis’ 18 points, while Emilee Eisinger recorded a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Rebekah Johnson and Travis pulled down 10 and 8 rebounds respectively for the visiting Eagles.
With the win, Corban improves to 15-3 overall, 6-1 in CCC play. Northwest falls to 7-12 overall, 3-4 in CCC play. The Warriors are next in action on Friday, January 13th, when they travel to Portland for a 5:30 p.m. match up with fellow conference member Cascade College.
