Warriors lead from beginning to end in win over Evergreen

SALEM, Ore. – Junior Tosha Wilson (Madras, Ore.) recorded her first double-double of the season when she scored a game-high 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds in leading the NAIA’s No. 17-ranked Corban’s women’s basketball to a wire-to-wire victory, 81-58, over The Evergreen State College on Friday night.
The 5-foot-6 Madras High School graduate was 6-for-10 from free throw line and handed out a game-high 7 assists, while playing a team-best 32 minutes.
Corban jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead to begin the game and never looked back en route to winning their 14th game of the year. The Warriors have won 12 of their last 14 games, including 3 straight conference victories.
Junior Brianne Carras (Olympia, Wash.) added 16 points and 9 rebounds, while sophomore Jessica Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) and junior Jessi Schaumburg (Redmond, Ore.) chipped in with 12 and 11 points respectively.
Corban shot 28-for-65 (43.1%) from the field, while Evergreen shot 22-for-66 (33.3%).
Evergreen was led by Danielle Keenan’s 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Dalia Gomez, Katie Floyd, and Courtnie Wilson had 10, 8, and 8 points respectively.
With the win, Corban improves to 14-3 overall, 5-1 in CCC play. Evergreen falls to 5-11 overall, 3-4 in CCC play. The Warriors are next in action on Saturday, January 7th, when they host Northwest beginning at 5:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
