SALEM, Ore. – Senior libero Becky Horn (Troutdale, Ore.) became the eighth player in Warrior history to record 1,000-or-more digs in her career, but it was not enough as Corban's women's volleyball team fell in four games (31-33, 30-26, 22-30, 31-33) to the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon on Saturday.

Horn recorded a dig during the second rally to give her 1,000 career digs in just two seasons. The 5-foot-6 defensive specialist joins a group of seven other Warriors that have surpassed the illustrious mark during their time in a Corban/Western Baptist uniform.

Along with Horn's defensive performance, which included a team-high 32 digs, senior Hallie Hofferd (Bend, Ore.) recorded a match and career-high 20 kills. Sophomore Chelsea Reeher (Powell Butte, Ore.) turned in a 20-kill performance and fellow sophomore Jessica McGraw (Gaston, Ore.) recorded another triple-double.

McGraw registered her fifth triple-double of the season with a 14 kill, 20 assist, 12 dig performance, while Reeher surpassed the 20-kill plateau for the second time this season.

In the opening game, both team combined for 11 ties with Corban grabbing a late 29-26 lead on a Reeher kill. Unfortunately, the Warriors watched as the visiting Mountaineers got four straight points to take a 1-point advantage (30-29) on a service ace. An EOU service error produced the 10th tie of the opening game at 30-all. Corban took a 1-point lead following a Mountaineers attack error, but could not close the door thanks to a Keri Brown kill, a service ace, and a Warrior attack error. Eastern Oregon grabbed the opening game by the slim 2-point margin, 33-31.

In Game #2, Corban jumped out to an 8-1 lead on the serving of freshman setter Amy Thompson (Oregon City, Ore.) and Hofferd. Throughout the game, the Warriors held the lead, but watched Eastern Oregon attempt to claw and scratch its way back into the game only to get as close as 3 points (29-26). Reeher ended the game with a kill to give Corban the win, 30-26, and knot the match at 1-all.

In the third game, the Warriors rode the serving of Hofferd to take an early 5-1 lead, but could not hold on as the Mountaineers came back to tie the game at 14-all on another Brown kill. Eastern Oregon took a 17-14 lead following back-to-back-to-back Warrior attack errors before the two teams traded runs that took the score to 21-20 in EOU's favor. Eastern Oregon then used three separate runs of 4, 3, and 2 points to take the third game, 30-22.

In the fourth and final game, Corban jumped out to a 10-5 advantage thanks to the serving of Reeher and extended the lead to as many as eight following a Hofferd kill. Eastern Oregon used a 3 and 5 point rally to get back within two (24-22) before the Warriors scored three straight points on kills by Hofferd (2) and McGraw (1). Up by 5 points (27-22), Corban watched as EOU's Grace Deboodt took over and registered five straight kills to knot the game at 30-all. Each team traded kills and had the game knotted at 31-31 before the visiting Mountaineers scored a service ace and were the beneficiary of a Warrior attack error to give them the slim 2-point win (33-31) and the four-game victory.

Thompson guided Corban's offense with a team and career-high 34 assists, while junior Ashley Lange (Salem, Ore.) and freshman Kristina Lewin (Keizer, Ore.) recorded 5 and 4 kills respectively. Hofferd, Thompson, and junior Caylin Goss (La Grande, Ore.) aided Horn and the Warrior defense with 10 digs each, while Corban recorded 95 digs as a team.

Eastern Oregon was led by Deboodt's match-high 20 kills, while Jana Brotherton and a pair of Mountaineers added 12 and 11 respectively. Jenna Elliott guided the Mountaineers' offense with a match-high 50 assists, while Kiley Cobb anchored Eastern Oregon's back line with a match-high 34 digs.

Corban is now 6-14 overall, 3-10 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Eastern Oregon pushes its overall record to 6-13, 5-8 in CCC action. The Warriors will return to the court on Friday, October 20th, when they go head-to-head with the Knights of Warner Pacific beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Portland. Earlier this season, these same two teams battled it out in a tough five-game match in which Corban prevailed, 3-2 (23-30, 30-23, 28-30, 30-28, 15-13), in Salem.
