Warriors swept by ‘Yotes of Albertson College of Idaho

CALDWELL, Idaho – Junior libero Becky Horn (Troutdale, Ore.) was the lone bright spot for Corban’s women’s volleyball team as she recorded a match-high 24 digs in a three-game loss (25-30, 17-30, 16-30) to the Coyotes of Albertson College of Idaho on Friday night.
Horn, who leads the team in digs (314) and digs per game (5.92), anchored the Warriors’ back line as she posted her 12th double-digit dig total and 9th match with 20-or-more digs this season. Horn (pictured right) had recorded at least 24-or-more digs in Corban’s last three matches, including a season-high 38 against Concordia one week ago.
Along with Horn, freshman Chelsea Reeher (Powell Butte, Ore.) led Corban with a team-high 6 kills, while junior Nina Clanton (Hillsboro, Ore.) and senior Ashley Walbridge (Troutdale, Ore.) recorded 5 kills each. In her first match of the season, senior Katie Lewin (Keizer, Ore.) recorded 3 kills and a team-high 3 blocks (2 solo, 1 assist).
In the first two games, Corban recorded more combined kills than errors (17 kills & 16 errors), but could not continue that trend in the third and final game thanks to 8 kills and 10 attack errors. For the match, the Warriors recorded 25 kills and 26 attack errors.
Albertson recorded double-digit kill totals in all three games (16, 20, & 15 respectively), while committing only 15 total attack errors. The Coyotes were led by Kathryn Ely’s match-high 14 kills and team-high 16 digs, while Katie Hogue and Tiffany Sower recorded 12 and 10 kills respectively.
Walbridge guided the Warrior attack, as she handed out a team-high 20 assists and recorded her 7th double-double of the season with 10 digs. Walbridge has recorded three straight double-doubles (10-plus assists & 10-plus digs), including a 44 assist-13 dig performance in Corban’s win over Concordia last Friday.
With the loss, Corban falls to 4-10 overall, 4-6 in Cascade Collegiate play. Albertson, who has won six straight matches and 18 straight games, improves to 12-3 overall, 8-2 in Cascade Collegiate play. The Warriors are next in action on Saturday, October 8th, when they travel to La Grande to take on the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon beginning at 7:00 p.m. |
