SALEM, Ore. – In its first home conference match of the season, Corban's women's volleyball team fell victim to the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College, 3-1 (26-30, 30-22, 25-30, 22-30), despite 12 kills each by seniors Nina Clanton (Hillsboro, Ore.) and Hallie Hofferd (Bend, Ore.).

In the first, third, and fourth game, Corban could not seem to stop the Geoducks runs that propelled them onto their first victory of the season.
In the second game, the Warriors controlled the flow and behind 6 kills from McGraw and 13 digs by senior libero Becky Horn (Troutdale, Ore.) cruised to a 8-point win (30-22). The Warriors recorded 19 kills as a team compared to Evergreen's 6 kills and 6 attack errors (.000 attack percentage).
McGraw teamed with fellow setter and freshman Amy Thompson (Damascus, Ore.) for a combined 40 assists (21 by McGraw & 19 by Thompson). Horn anchored the Warrior back line with a match-high 33 digs, while McGraw and Hofferd chipped in with 23 and 18 respectively.
Evergreen was led by Emily Peterson's match-high 16 kills, while Chelsea Jacobson and Madeline Bleavens added 9 and 8 respectively. Ashley Carver guided the Geoducks' offense with a match-high 32 assists, while Peterson anchored Evergreen's back line with a team-high 21 digs.
Corban is now 2-6 overall, 0-3 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Evergreen improves to 1-5 overall, 1-1 in CCC action. The Warriors will return to conference tomorrow night - Saturday, Sept. 9th - when they continue conference play against Northwest University beginning at 7:00 p.m. inside the C.E.
