Warriors end inaugural season at CCC Championships

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Corban's track team completed its inaugural season at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships on Saturday, as nine runners placed in the top ten in each of their races with junior Danielle Jordan (Medford, Ore.) earning a third place showing in the 5,000-meter run.

In nine events, Corban had eighteen runners place in the top 20 in each of their respective races with Jordan finishing the closest to the top.

Jordan finished the 5,000-meter run in a time of 19:03.42 to place less than thirty seconds behind the race winner en route to earning Corban's highest individual point total of the entire meet.

Along with Jordan, freshman Tera Stegner (Damascus, Ore.) turned in a pair of top five finishes in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run thanks to times of 1:00.55 (5th - 400 m) and 2:20.27 (4th - 800 m) to earn a total of nine points towards the team total.

Also on the women's side, freshman Carli Moller (Vancouver, Wash.) finished 4th and 8th respectively in the 1,500-meter run and 800-meter run in times of 4:57.17 (1,500) and 2:22.47 (800). Fellow freshman Bernice Soto (Aumsville, Ore.) placed 5th and 10th respectively in the 1,500 and 800 meter runs with times of 4:58.80 (1,500) and 2:26.63 (800).

Junior Sara Aikin (Lebanon, Ore.) rounded out the Warrior female runners with an 8th place showing in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 20:01.54.

On the men's side, freshman Kristopher Cox (Bend, Ore.) took 13th in the 400-meter dash in a time of 52.83, while fellow freshman Jeffrey Schloemer (Mt. Vernon, Wash.) finished 19th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:35.01 and 17th in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:02.91. Sophomore Ben Snell (Spray, Ore.) and senior Thomas Berney (Oregon City, Ore.) rounded out the men's competitors, as the duo ran in the 5,000-meter run and finished 20th and 30th respectively in times of 16:44.24 (Snell) and 17:38.11 (Berney).

As a team, Corban's women's 4x400 meter relay squad finished 7th overall, as Moller, Stegner, Soto, and freshman Kacie Woolsey (Waldport, Ore.) completed in a time of 4:22.57 and earned two points towards the overall team total.

Corban's women's team finished eighth overall with a combined 28 team points, while the men's team did not have enough runner place to earn points.
