Quartet of runners kick off conference championships

GRESHAM, Ore. – A quartet of Warrior runners began the three-day Cascade Collegiate Conference championships by running in the 10,000 meter run Thursday at Mt. Hood Community College, as Corban's track teams competed in its second-ever championship event.

Running on Day #1 for the Warriors were seniors Danielle Jordan (Medford, Ore.) and Sara Aikin (Lebanon, Ore.), along with junior Ben Snell (Spray, Ore.) and freshman Kevin Cook (Ashland, Ore.).

In the women's 10K run, Jordan finished third in a time of 40:11.42 behind race winner Beth Knudtson of Northwest, who qualified for the NAIA Championships in a time of 37:38.49. The senior brought home a bronze medal, as she was attempting to qualify for her second event at the upcoming NAIA Championships later this month.

Aikin was six spots behind Jordan in ninth place thanks to a time of 41:32.29, as Aikin was attempting to qualify for the NAIA Championship in her first 10K run of the season.

Rounding out the Warrior competitors for the evening, on the men's side, Snell finished ninth overall in a time of 33:07.31 to set a personal record by more than 21 seconds.

Meanwhile, Cook finished 15th overall thanks to a time of 36:13.92 and caps his first collegiate season as a Warrior.

Corban's track teams will run again on Friday, May 9th, when the Warriors compete on Day #2 of the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham.

NOTE: The Warriors will have competitors in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase, women's long jump, women's 4x100 relay, women's 1,500 meter run, men's 1,500 meter run, women's 400 meter run, and women's 100 meter dash.
