Moller wins 1,500 meter run at Lewis & Clark Invite

PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior Carli Moller (Vancouver, Wash.) brought home her first-ever track medal thanks to winning the 1,500 meter run in a time of 4:47.81, as Corban's men's and women's track teams competed at the Lewis & Clark Invitational Saturday at Eldon Fix Track.

Moller brought home the gold medal in the 1,500 meter run after beating Linfield's Joanna Murphy by 1.41 seconds. Meanwhile, senior Danielle Jordan (Medford, Ore.) finished fourth overall in the 1,500 meter run thanks to a time of 4:52.09 before turning in a 10th place showing in the 800 meter run after posting a time of 2:30.81.

Sophomore Tera Stegner (Damascus, Ore.) finished as the runner-up in the 800 meter run thanks to a time of 2:20.06, which was 2.24 seconds behind Casey Stepan of Linfield.

Freshman Lauren Nolz (Salem, Ore.) competed in the 100 meter dash and finished 16th overall thanks to a time of 14.06. She also posted a time of 30.20 in the 200 meter dash to finish 26th overall before taking part in the Warriors' lone field event, as she registered a no-distance in the triple jump on three attempts.

Sophomore Allison Clark (Roseburg, Ore.) also competed in the 200 meter dash and finished 28th overall in a time of 33.02.

Freshman Karissa Griggs (Athena, Ore.) competed in the 400 meter run and finished 12th overall in a time of 1:06.45.

Seniors Jill Nielsen (Baker City, Ore.) and Sara Aikin (Lebanon, Ore.) took part in the 5,000 meter run and finished 5th and 7th respectively in times of 20:00.71 and 20:03.21 respectively.

Freshman Ali Ghavami (Keizer, Ore.) took part in the 400 meter hurdles and finished 10th overall in a time of 1:23.25.

The women's 4x400 meter relay team turned in a time of 4:26.04 to finish fourth overall behind NCAA Division I Portland. The Warriors' 4x400 team consisted of Griggs, Moller, freshman Erin Laughlin (Ephrata, Wash.), and Stegner.

On the men's side, freshman Nathan Moller (Vancouver, Wash.) competed in the 100 and 200 meter dash finishing 23rd in the 100 meter dash in a time of 12.34 before placing 24th in the 200 meter dash thanks to a time of 25.07.

Fellow freshman Travis Wells (Springfield, Ore.) also ran in the 200 meter dash, as he finished 21st in a time of 24.72.

Freshman Beau St. Peter (Salem, Ore.) competed in the 400 meter dash and finished 12th in a time of 53.41 before fellow freshman Ben Search (Battleground, Wash.) turned in a 7th place showing in the 800 meter run thanks to a time of 1:58.76.

Junior Ben Snell (Spray, Ore.) and freshman Kevin Cook (Baker City, Ore.) competed in the 1,500 meter run finishing 10th and 20th respectively after turning in times of 4:16.74 and 4:35.62 respectively. Snell then ran the 5,000 meter run, finishing 8th overall in a time of 16:50.91.

Freshman David Anderson (Salem, Ore.) recorded the Warriors' best finish of the day thanks to a 5th  place showing in the 400 meter hurdles thanks to a time of 59.76.

The women's team finished ninth overall thanks to a meet total of 38 points, which was 119 points behind meet champion and fellow conference member Concordia's meet-best 157 combined team points. Meanwhile, the men's team tallied a total of 16 meet points to finish 11th overall behind meet champion Concordia, who earned 183.50 points.

Corban's track teams will run again on Friday, April 18th, when the Warriors send split teams to compete at WOU Twilight beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Monmouth and the Warner Pacific Mini Meet beginning at 4:30 p.m. in Portland.
