Runners conclude events at Willamette Invitational

SALEM, Ore. – Corban's men's and women's track teams concluded its part in the annual two-day Willamette Invitational on Friday & Saturday with a quintet of runners, including junior Danielle Jordan (Medford, Ore.) and freshman Carli Moller (Vancouver, Wash.), placing in the top 20 in their respective races.

DAY ONE -- 800 & 5,000 M (W) | 1,500 & 5,000 M (M)

In the opening day on the women's side, Jordan finished 17th in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:26.10 to receive the Warriors' high finish of the day. Meanwhile, Moller competed in a pair of races -- the 1,500 meter run and the 5,000 meter run -- and finished 19th and 29th respectively. Moller completed the 1,500 meter in a time of 4:53.95, while finishing the 5,000 meter with a time of 18:59.51. Along with Jordan and Moller, freshman Bernice Soto (Aumsville, Ore.) ran the 1,500 meter race in a time of 5:09.16 to finish 27th. Junior Sara Aiken (Lebanon, Ore.), junior Jill Nielsen (Baker City, Ore.), and freshman Rachel Brown (Madrid, Spain) competed in the 5,000 meter race and finished 44th, 49th, and 54th respectively. Aiken ran in a time of 19:42.10, Nielsen finished in a time of 19:59.76, and Brown competed her first collegiate race in a time of 22:09.41.

On the men's side, freshman Jeffery Schloemer (Mt. Vernon, Wash.) concluded the 1,500 meter race in times of 4:29.66 for a finish of 61st place, while sophomore Ben Snell (Spray, Ore.) and senior Thomas Berney (Oregon City, Ore.) ran in the 5,000 meter run with the duo finishing 55th and 71st respectively. Snell ran the night's final race in a time of 15:58.10, while Berney completed the race in a time of 17:11.95.

DAY TWO -- 400 & 800 METER (W) | 400 METER (M)

Freshman Tera Stegner (Damascus, Ore.), freshman Kacie Woolsey (Waldport, Ore.), and freshman Natalie Meldrum (Winnemuca, Nev.) each ran the 400 meter on the final day of the Willamette Invite, as the trio finished 11th, 17th, and 18th respectively. Stegner completed the race in a time of 1:01.86 and grabbed the highest finish of any Corban runners this weekend, while Woolsey (1:11.81) and Meldrum (1:12.59) each finished with sub-73 second performances. Stegner also ran the 800 meter race and finished 34th in a time of 2:36.30.

On the men's side, Corban's lone performer was sophomore Jason Bernard (Salem, Ore.), who ran in the 400 meter and finished 22nd with a time of 54:10.

Corban’s track teams will conclude the two-day Willamette Invite at McCullough Stadium on Saturday, April 7th, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
