Runners take part in Charles Bowles Spring Classic

SALEM, Ore. – Corban's men's and women's track teams took part in the annual Charles Bowles Spring Break Classic on Friday at McCullough Stadium and placed two individuals and two teams in the top five in their second meet of the spring season.
On the women's side, junior Danielle Jordan (Medford, Ore.) finished third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:14.48 to receive the Warriors' high finish of the day. Meanwhile, freshman Carli Moller (Vancouver, Wash.) concluded the 800 meter run in a time of 2:22.90 to finish 5th before relaying Corban's 4x400 meter team to a 4th place finish in a time of 4:26.24. Along with Moller, freshman Bernice Soto (Aumsville, Ore.), freshman Kacie Woolsey (Waldport, Ore.), and freshman Alyssa Powers (Goldendale, Wash.) ran as Corban's entry in the 4x400 meter run and snagged its second straight 4th place finish this spring.
On the men's side, freshman Kristopher Cox (Bend, Ore.) paced Corban's runner with a 12th place finish in the 400 meter dash in a time of 53.24, while anchoring the Warriors' 4x400 meter team to a 5th place finish thanks to a finishing time of 3:45.40. Along with Cox, fellow freshman Jeffery Schloemer (Mt. Vernon, Wash.) and junior Chad Hunsucker (Polson, Mont.) concluded the 800 meter and 1,500 meter races in times of 2:03.38 (14th place) and 4:34.83 (30th place) respectively. Senior Thomas Berney (Oregon City, Ore.) was the Warriors' lone entry in the 5,000 meter run with the coach's son finishing 26th overall in a time of 17:46.89. Corban's 4x400 meter men's entry, which consisted of Schloemer, Cox, sophomore Brian Beeson (Soldotna, Alaska), and senior Brent Fasholz (Canby, Ore.), ran its first race of the spring season and finished 5th overall.
Corban’s track teams will compete again on Friday and Saturday, April 6 & 7, at the Willamette Invite at McCullough Stadium beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
