SALEM, Ore. – Corban's men's and women's track teams began their respective seasons at the Willamette Opener in Salem and the Linfield Icebreaker in McMinnville Saturday with senior Danielle Jordan (Medford, Ore.) highlighting the day's action with a 2nd place showing in the 5,000 meter run.

With a trio of runners competing in McMinnville, Jordan finished the 5,000 meter run a mere nine seconds behind the winner -- Jane Larson of Clark College -- thanks to a time of 18:10.89. The senior's performance was a personal best, school record, and met the "B" qualification standards (18:25.00 or less) for the NAIA National Championships that will be held at Ralph Korte Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri in late May.

Along with Jordan, fellow seniors Jill Nielsen (Baker City, Ore.) and Sara Aikin (Lebanon, Ore.) finished the 5,000 meter run in the top fifteen. Nielsen crossed the finish line in ninth place in a time of 19:27.41, while Aikin ended her first race of the season in 14th place thanks to a time of 20:29.83.

Competing in his first collegiate race, freshman Ben Search (Battleground, Wash.) took part in the 800 meter run at the Willamette Opener and finished sixth overall. In a time of 2:00.44, Search ran as the runner-up in the second heat that ended up being just under two seconds slower than the eventual winner -- Ryan McLauglin of Willamette.

Corban's track teams will run again on Saturday, March 8th, when the entire team competes for the first time this year at the Mt. Hood Invite beginning at 12:00 p.m. in Gresham.
