At WB: Started most contests in left field for Western Baptist a year ago…Was second on the club with eight stolen bases…Tied for second with nine doubles and was fourth with three home runs.  Prior to WB: Played softball for two years at Blue Mountain Community College earning first-team all-NWAACC accolades both seasons…Has earned college and high school academic honors…Graduated from Riverside High School in 2001…Was first and second-team all-league as a prep…Also played four years of volleyball at Riverside…Summer team finished eighth in ASA World Series.  Personal: Born in Hermiston, Ore…Parents are John and Brenda Newport…Enjoys the outdoors, photography, crafts and cooking…Major: Elementary Education.  Why I chose WB: “I felt it would be a place that could provide the means for the spiritual growth I need as well as a place I could play a sport I love.”
