SALEM, Ore. - Freshman Jessica Pierce (Kennewick, Wash.) went a combined 1-for-3 and scored both Warrior runs in the night cap, as Corban's softball team closed out the 2007 season with a pair of losses, 11-1 & 3-2, to conference rival Concordia on Friday at Warrior Field.

Coming into today's double header, the Warriors had won three of their last six games, including a come-from-behind victory over nationally-ranked Oregon Tech ten days ago.

Concordia struck first in the opening game, as the Cavaliers scored a run when lead-off hitter Ashley Watson scored on a wild pitch.

In their half of the first inning, the Warriors knotted the game at 1-all when lead-off batter and sophomore Rachel Steigleman (Eugene, Ore.) recorded the game's first hit via a double to right field. The very next batter -- Pierce -- walked, moving Steigleman to second before the duo advanced another base via a wild pitch. Junior Lindsay Batey (Aloha, Ore.) loaded the bases when she drew a walk before freshman Siriana Guest (Salem, Ore.) plated Corban's lone run of the first game via a sacrifice fly to deep left field, allowing Steigleman to score from third.

Concordia plated runs in the second, fourth, and fifth innings en route to securing the victory.

Sophomore pitcher Erin Sailors (Anchorage, Alaska) went the distance for Corban and recorded six strikeouts to push her single-season school record to 118 K's in 100.1 innings pitched. At the plate, Steigleman, Pierce, and junior Laura Santie (Seattle, Wash.) each recorded a hit off Concordia pitching.

In the night cap, Corban got on the board first with a single run in the first inning when Pierce was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on junior Jennifer Childer's (Winston, Ore.) sacrifice bunt, and scored on the inning's second wild pitch.

Junior pitcher Kelley Seaton (Salem, Ore.) held the Cavaliers' bats at bay until the fifth inning when Concordia tied the game at 1-all when Kelly Rattay led off the inning with a single, moved up two bases on a wild pitch and passed ball respectively, and then scored on a double steal.

In the sixth inning, Concordia took the lead for good when the visiting Cavaliers scored a pair of runs on two hits, including a two-RBI single to center field by Rattay.

In its half of the sixth inning, Corban pulled within a single run when Pierce walked and then scored on a pair of errors by Concordia's center fielder. Unfortunately, the Warriors could not tack on the tying run that was needed when the Cavaliers' pitching staff shut down Corban's offense over the final two innings.

Seaton went the distance for Corban, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits with one strikeout. Offensively, freshman Kacie Emerick (Bellingham, Wash.) recorded Corban's lone hit of Game #2 with a swinging bunt single in the second inning.

On the afternoon, four different Warriors -- Steigleman, Pierce, Santie, and Emerick -- recorded hits off Cavalier pitching with Pierce scoring two of Corban's three runs.

For Concordia, Rattay had four hits on the afternoon with Rebekah Cox and Kari Mabe registering a pair of hits each in the opener. Annelle Huckins and Danielle Pulfrey went the distance in each game for the Cavaliers, as Huckins recorded a game-high 10 K's in Game #1 en route to picking up her team-leading 11th win of the season.

Corban concludes its season at 8-34-1 overall, 4-16 in conference play. Meanwhile, Concordia improves to 20-13 overall, 14-8 in conference play.
