SALEM, Ore. - Freshman Jessica Pierce (Kennewick, Wash.) hit the game-winning home run and sophomore Erin Sailors (Anchorage, Alaska) turned in a 2-hit, 9-strikeout performance in Game #1, as Corban softball team split a conference afternoon double header with the Raiders of Southern Oregon, 3-2 & 0-17, on Friday.

In the opener, Sailors got the game's opening batter out via a line out before walking the second batter. After settling down the nerves, the right-handed starter retired fourteen straight batters and in the process broke her own single season record for strikeouts when she got SOU's Brin Tamblin swinging to end the third inning.

The Warriors began the scoring in the 3rd inning when freshman Siriana Guest (Salem, Ore.) reached on a fielder's choice before junior Lindsay Batey (Aloha, Ore.) moved her to second via a single up the middle. The very next batter -- junior Jennifer Childers (Winston, Ore.) -- knocked home the game's first two runs with a double to left center, allowing both Guest and Batey to score.

In the sixth inning, Southern Oregon snapped Sailor's streak of fourteen straight batters retired when former Warrior Becca Shelamer reached via an error. The visiting Raiders got on the board in the stanza with a pair of runs on two hits to tie the game to set up the heroics for Pierce in the bottom of the inning.

Leading off the inning, Pierce connected on her first collegiate home run -- a blast over the right center field fence -- to give the home Warriors to one-run advantage and then turned the ball over to Sailors for the final three outs.

Sailors got the first two Raiders via a pop-up and a fly out to right field before closing out the contest with SOU's Joelle Riekeman swinging through the third strike to give Corban to victory.

Lamson ended the game with a 2-for-3 performance, while Guest, Batey, Childers, and Pierce each collected a hit off Raider pitching. Childers drove in a game-high two runs, while Pierce registered her fourth RBI of the season via her game-winning blast.

Sailors went the distance and allowed a pair of runs (one earned) on two hits, while turning in her best performance of the season. The right-hander also became the first-ever Warrior pitcher to record triple digits in strikeouts, as Sailors has accumulated 100 K's this season to push her career total to 194 in two seasons and surpasses former Warrior Rachel Hiatt (2004-06) for first all-time in career strikeouts.

In the night cap, Southern Oregon scored runs in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th inning, as SOU's Melissa Wilt held Corban to a mere single to left field by Guest in the 4th inning, as the right-hander faced one batter over the minimum limit.

Junior starter Kelley Seaton (Salem, Ore.) and sophomore reliever Karlee Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) combined to throw the complete 5.0 innings, as Seaton began the game and went the opening inning before turning the ball over to Sisler for the final four frames.

Guest was Corban's only base runner in Game #2 and ended the twin bill with a pair of hits in six plate appearances.

On the afternoon, Lamson and Guest led the Warriors' offense thanks to the duo combining for a pair of hits each with three other Corban players registering a hit off Raider pitching.

For Southern Oregon, both Tamblin and Katie Lee registered a combined four hits each with the duo collecting three hits each in the night cap.

With the double header split, Corban now find themselves at 6-30-1 overall, 3-13 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Meanwhile, Southern Oregon is now 11-23 overall, 6-6 in CCC play. The Warriors will return to the Warrior Field tomorrow -- Saturday, April 21st -- when Corban hosts the NAIA's No. 13-ranked Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech in an afternoon double header beginning at 12:00 p.m.
