SALEM, Ore. - Corban's softball team ran into a hot Boxer team from Pacific (Ore.) University on Saturday at Wallace Marine Park in West Salem and dropped a pair of non-conference games, 7-1 & 11-0, to close out its season-opening six-game home stand.

Pacific took the opener behind a game-high 15 strikeouts, including 11 of Corban's first 14 batters, from starting pitcher Miranda McNeely, while sophomore Megan Gaylord (Portland, Ore.) drove in the Warriors' lone run with an RBI single in the 5th inning that scored freshman Jennifer Hansen (Canby, Ore.).

In the night cap, the Warriors were held to five hits all after watching the visiting Boxers post eight run on the board in the opening inning. Freshman Jessica Pierce (Kennewick, Wash.) was a perfect 1-for-1 with a walk to lead the Warriors' offense, while Corban drew four walks in the finale.

Junior Lindsay Batey (Aloha, Ore.) registered a pair of hits in the twin bill, while sophomore Erin Sailors (Anchorage, Alaska) pitched a combined 9.0 innings for the Warriors.

With the losses, Corban is now 2-10-1 overall, while Pacific is 6-4 overall. Corban will be next in action on Tuesday, March 20th, when the Warriors travel north to McMinnville to face NCAA Division III member Linfield in a 3:00 p.m. contest.
