MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - Sophomore forward Joshua Crain (Olympia, Wash.) scored his team-leading 4th goal of the season, but Corban fell, 3-1, to Whitworth in the Warriors' final game at the Linfield Wildcat Classic on Monday afternoon.

After 64 scoreless minutes, the teams traded nearly identical goals within 36 seconds.  Crain kicked off the game's scoring from six yards out on an assist by freshman Eric Branch (Keizer, Ore.), but Whitworth tied that game at 1-apiece when junior Niko Varlamos retaliated from six yards out on an assist by senior Todd Sabrowski.

With the score tied at 1-apiece, senior Evan Henrickson put Whitworth ahead for good with a goal from 20 yards out from the left side with 5:38 to play and Sabrowski capped the scoring on a 35-yard free kick up the middle with 3:13 left.

Whitworth got off 29 shots to 13 for Corban, which lead to a season-high 21 saves by Corban senior goalkeeper Brett Bentley (Chandler, Ariz.), while Whitworth’s goalkeeper Scott Barnum recorded 10 saves.

Junior forward Scott Marshall (Bend, Ore.), sophomore midfielder Caleb Louvier (SeaTac, Wash.), and junior defender James Young (Estacada, Ore.) were named as members of the all-tournament team.

Corban falls to 1-1-1, while Whitworth improves to 2-0-0.  The Warriors are next in action on Thursday, September 8th, when they travel to Whitman for a 4:00 p.m. contest in Walla Walla, Washington.
