Warriors Picked Fifth by Cascade Conference Coaches

August 22, 2005

SALEM, Ore. - Following a season in which Corban College men's soccer team finished 4th in the Cascade Conference and failed to advance to the NAIA Region I post-season tournament due to Longo points, the Warriors have been picked fifth overall by the Cascade Conference men's soccer coaches in the 2005 pre-season poll.

Concordia (Ore.) received 4-out-of-5 first place votes in the overall standings with the other vote going to The Evergreen State College, while Corban tallied 18 total points, which put them a mere 8 points away from the second place team, Warner Pacific.

Fourth-year head coach Justin Rivard returns 8-out-of-11 starters from last season's 10-5-2 squad, including 2004 all-conference 1st team performer Caleb Louvier (SeaTac, Wash). Rivard also returns 2004 all-conference 2nd team honorees Scott Marshall (Bend, Ore.), who led the Warriors in goals (13), assists (9), and points (35), and James Young (Estacada, Ore.).

Corban kicks off the 2005 season on Wednesday, August 24th, against defending Canada West regular season champions Trinity Western beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Warrior Field.
