SALEM, Ore. – Corban College’s four-year men’s basketball head coach Justin Sherwood has inked two players for the 2006-07 seasons.
Sherwood recently signed local senior Ben Potloff (Keizer, Ore.) from Salem Academy Christian High School and sophomore transfer Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) from Treasure Valley Community College.
Potloff was a four-year starter at Salem Academy for head coach and brother Pete Potloff and averaged 18.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game during his final season as a Crusader. Potloff earned 1st team Tri-River all-league following his junior and senior seasons, while earning 2nd team honors after his sophomore campaign. Potloff capped his high school career by being named as a member of the 2nd team all-state following his 2005-06 senior season. The 6-foot-1 guard was named team captain prior to his junior and senior seasons and finished 2nd all-time in points and assists at Salem Academy Christian High School. Potloff was a member of the team when the Crusaders finished 2nd at the 2A state tournament during his junior season.
“We are excited to see how Ben – a local guy – can fit into the program,” said Sherwood. “Potloff will be exciting to watch and we will have to wait and see how he adjusts to the college level.”
Douglas played the 2004-05 season at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon, but appeared in only eight games due to injury. At TVCC, Douglas averaged 12.6 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game for the Chukars. Prior to playing at Treasure Valley, Douglas prepped at Ontario High School where he averaged 16.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during his 2003-04 senior season. The 6-foot-5 forward was named Greater Oregon League co-Player of the Year following his senior season, while being named 1st team all-state following his junior and senior campaigns. Douglas also garnered 2nd team recognition at the 3A state tournament during his senior season.
“We are excited because Wade will bring some collegiate experience to the program,” commented Sherwood. “He will add some inside strength and athleticism to the Warriors next season.”
Last season, the Warriors posted a 16-14 overall record and advanced to the Cascade Collegiate Conference post-season tournament for the 12th straight season. |
