SALEM, Ore. – Seniors Eric Fiegi (Medford, Ore.), Chris Lynn (Kent, Wash.), and Joel Worcester (Eugene, Ore.) combined to score 79 points, as Corban’s men’s basketball team upset the NAIA’s No. 3-ranked Warner Pacific, 113-98, on Saturday night in front of a nearly packed C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
Playing in his final regular season home game in a Warrior uniform, Fiegi led all players with 37 points on 16-for-29 shooting from the field, while grabbing a team-high 11 rebounds. The 6-foot-9 South Medford High School graduate was 5-for-7 from the free throw line, but did not touch the ball for the final 2:43 as the Knights fouled quickly to stop the clock and attempted to get back into the game.
With the win, Corban (15-12 overall, 9-7 CCC) moved into a three-way tie for 3rd place in the conference standings thanks to an Oregon Tech loss to Eastern Oregon, 83-81, and Northwest did not play. With two games remaining, the Warriors have a chance to host a 1st round playoff game if they can win one of their games next weekend in Southern Oregon and Northwest loses one of their games in Portland.
Lynn finished the night with 25 points on 8-for-14 shooting, including 8-for-9 from the free throw line. Worcester capped his night of recognition with 14 points on 6-for-10 shooting, including 2-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Junior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) led the group of Warrior reserves with 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting, including 4-for-7 from behind the 3-point line. Corban’s bench outscored the Knights’ reserves, 26-20, as juniors Ryan Heil (Medford, Ore.) and Brad Reynoso (Salem, Ore.) combined for the other 9 points off the bench.
Warner Pacific (22-6 overall, 12-4 CCC) was led by Donny Woods’ 23 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while Nate Menefee and Garland Perry recorded 21 and 19 points respectively.
The Warriors are next in action on Friday, February 17th, when they travel south to Klamath Falls for a match up with Oregon Institute of Technology beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The game will be carried live on KWBX 90.3 and thanks to the college’s partnership with Stretch Internet those fans that are outside the coverage area of the Salem-based radio station can hear the game live on the Internet.
