PORTLAND, Ore. – Senior All American Eric Fiegi (Medford, Ore.) pumped in 27 points, including four points in the final 12 seconds, to give Corban College an 80-73 victory over Cascade College in Cascade Collegiate Conference play Friday night.

Fiegi hit a 10-foot turn around jumper to give the Warriors a 76-72 lead with 12 seconds to play, then nailed two free throws six seconds later to seal the win for Corban. The 6-foot-9 senior post grabbed a game-high 13 boards and in the process became the Warriors all-time leading rebounder with 1,066. He surpassed Gary Williamson’s old mark of 1,062 (1982-86) with an offensive rebound in the second half.

Senior Chris Lynn (Kent, Wash.) scored 12 second-half points and finished with 14 for the Warriors and fellow senior Joel Worcester (Eugene, Ore.) added 10 for the winners.  Worcester also pocketed a key steal with 1:46 left in the game, taking a game-tying possession opportunity away from the Thunderbirds and setting the stage for Fiegi’s final basket.

The Warriors held a 40-36 lead at the half as Fiegi scored 10 points and junior Ryan Heil (Medford, Ore.) hit 4-of-5 shots and added 9 points before the break.

Though Cascade shot 57.4% for the game (31-for-54) compared to Corban’s 43.5% (27-for-62), the Warriors forced the Thunderbirds into 25 turnovers. Corban knocked down 19-of-21 attempts from the free throw line on the night while Cascade was just 4-of-14 from the charity stripe.

Cascade was led by Joshua Garrett who scored 18 points, while Paul Hamilton had 16 and Trevor Hutton added 15 points for the Thunderbirds.

With the win, Corban improves to 9-9 overall, 4-4 in CCC play. Cascade falls to 3-15 overall, 0-8 in CCC play.  The Warriors are next in action on Saturday, January 14th, when they travel north for a match up with the NAIA’s No. 15-ranked Knights of Warner Pacific beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Portland..
