Corban chosen ninth in conference by coaches
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Head coach Justin Sherwood and Corban's men's basketball team has been chosen ninth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, as voted by the conference coaches.

With the loss of four-time All-Conference member and two-time NAIA 1st team All-American Eric Fiegi, Sherwood will have to rely on the experience and scoring of his eight returnees from last season's 16-14 squad that advanced to the conference tournament.

Leading the pack of returnees are junior J.D. Hill (Lebanon, Ore.) and sophomore Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.). Hill, who sat out most of last season with a knee injury, is back at full strength and will be looked upon for leadership and scoring. Braun, who finished last season 6th on the team in scoring with an average of 5.9 points per game, will be looked at as a leader both on and off the court.

The remaining returnees are senior Brad Reynoso (Salem, Ore.), senior Nate Morris (Dufur, Ore.), junior Hannes Gehring (Lake Oswego, Ore.), junior Joey Jackson (Creeswell, Ore.), sophomore Garrett Kauffman (Sweet Home, Ore.), and sophomore Jason Klontz (Redmond, Ore.).

Added to the mix this season are a quartet of transfers -- Kevin Van Hook (Silverdale, Wash.) from Colorado State-Pueblo, Kyle Masten (Salem, Ore.) from Linn-Benton Community College, Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) from Treasure Valley Community College, and Michael Craig (Scappoose, Ore.) from Portland Community College. Sherwood also brought in a pair of freshman -- Ben Potloff (Keizer, Ore.) from nearby Salem Academy HS and Ryan Pugh (Lebanon, Ore.) from East Linn Christian HS.

Last season, fifth-year coach Sherwood and the Warriors ended the regular season winning six-out-of-seven games and finished fifth in the conference at 10-8. In the opening round of the conference tournament, Corban fell to Oregon Tech and ended its 2005-06 season.
