SALEM, Ore. - Sophomore Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) scored a game-high 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field, but it was not as Corban's men's basketball team succumb to a 13-2 run to open the second half in a 73-66 loss to the Cavaliers of Concordia on Saturday.

Despite watching Concordia score the game's opening basket on an alley-op dunk by Alex Hartman, Corban hung with the visiting Cavaliers and took its first lead of the contest (10-8) following a lay-up by senior Nate Morris (Dufur, Ore.) with 13:32 remaining in the opening half. The host Warriors pushed their lead to four (12-8) on a jumper in the paint by Morris before Concordia tied the game at 12-all via a turn-around jumper by Hartman nearly ten minutes into the first half. Over the next 7:02, the Warriors pushed their lead to double digits (34-23) thanks to a 22-11 run. Corban grabbed its largest lead of the opening stanza (41-28) when sophomore Kyle Masten (Salem, Ore.) connected on a bomb from long distance only to have Concordia pulled with 11 (41-30) via a lay-up by Cody Aker with four seconds left.

After being held scoreless during the opening twenty minutes, Concordia's Ernie Rama torched Corban's defense for eight points during a 13-2 run over the first 5:11 of the second half. With that opening spurt, the visiting Cavaliers knotted the game at 43-43 when Hartman tied the contest for the fifth time by hitting the back end of a pair of free throws. Rama then scored another eight points over a span of 2:26 to give the visiting Cavs an insurmountable 9-point advantage (56-47) with 10:25 left. Concordia pushed its lead to as many as 11 (63-52) following a 3-pointer by Aker before Corban attempted its final come back of the night. The host Warriors got within three (65-62) when Masten connected on a long distance shot from the corner with 3:47 remaining in the contest. Timely defense and near perfect free throw shooting over the final three-plus minutes aided Concordia in recording its second conference victory of the season by the final margin of seven (73-66).

Along with Douglas' game-high in points, Masten and fellow sophomore Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.) were the only other Warriors in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Morris and junior J.D. Hill (Lebanon, Ore.) notched 9 and 8 points respectively, while Braun pulled down a game-high 9 rebounds.

As a team, Corban shot 24-for-49 (49.0%) from the field, including a 63.6% (14-for-22) clip in the opening half. Meanwhile, Concordia shot 30-for-66 (45.5%) from the field, including a 55.2% (16-for-29) performance over the final twenty minutes en route to the victory.

Concordia was led by Aker's game-high 20 points, while Rama added 18 points all in the second half. Hartman aided the cause with 17 points and a team-best 7 rebounds, while six other Cavaliers scored at least two points.

With the loss, Corban drops to 1-15 overall, 0-5 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. Meanwhile, Concordia improves to 9-5 overall, 2-3 in CCC play. The Warriors will return to the floor on Friday, January 5th, when they travel north to the state of Washington for a conference showdown with the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Olympia.
