SALEM, Ore. - Sophomores Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.) and Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) combined for 38 points on a combined 14-for-23 shooting from the field, but it was not enough as Corban's men's basketball team fell, 89-71, to the NAIA's No. 13-ranked Coyotes of Albertson on Wednesday.

After falling behind quickly 7-0 in the opening 2:16, the Warriors battled back and took the lead (32-30) following a pair of free throws by Douglas. After an old fashion three-point play by Albertson's Bryan Champ, senior Kevin Van Hook (Silverdale, Wash.) hit a 3-pointer to give the Warriors their second and final lead of the contest (35-33). Van Hook had a chance to put Corban up by four points, but could not connect on back-to-back free throws before Albertson finished the half on a 13-2 run. The visiting Coyotes took a 9-point lead (46-37) into the locker room.

In the second half, Albertson dropped back from its normal full-court press into a 2-3 zone. Unfortunately for the Warriors, the 'Yotes pressure still got to the young squad and forced key turnovers that led to Albertson's largest lead (89-66) with 42 seconds remaining in the contest. A pair of lay-ups by Douglas and a free throw by junior Hannes Gehring (Lake Oswego, Ore.) capped off the game's scoring, as the final margin ended up being 18 points (89-71).

Along with Braun's game-high 21 points and Douglas' 17 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, fellow sophomore Jason Klontz (Redmond, Ore.) added 11 points to go along with Van Hook and Gehring's six points apiece. Junior J.D. Hill (Lebanon, Ore.) and a quartet of Warriors aided Douglas' cause on the boards by grabbing 6 and 3 rebounds respectively.

As a team, Corban shot 24-for-61 (39.3%) from the field, including 18-for-27 (66.7%) from the free throw line. Albertson shot 34-for-68 (50.0%) from the field, including 10-for-16 (62.5%) from the charity stripe.

Albertson was led by Ike Stafford and Craig McGee's team-high 17 points each on a combined 12-for-26 shooting from the field. Brandon Nielsen and Donnel Gardner pitched in with 16 and 15 points respectively, while McGee grabbed a team-high 13 boards.

With the loss, Corban drops to 1-14 overall, 0-4 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action. Meanwhile, Albertson improves to 9-1 overall, 3-0 in CCC play. The Warriors will return to the floor on Saturday, December 30th, when they host the Cavaliers of Concordia beginning at 7:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
