SALEM, Ore. - Sophomore Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.) notched a team-high 15 points on 2-for-5 shooting from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line, but it was not enough as Corban's men's basketball team fell, 97-60, to the Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon on Tuesday.

Coming off a ten-day break following back-to-back losses at the Hillyer's Mid-City Ford Classic, Corban came out and quickly fell behind by five (6-1) in the opening 1:15 and never found the lead. Eastern Oregon grabbed its largest lead of the opening half (52-26) with exactly one minute to play following back-to-back free throws by Tanner McIntosh. Corban sophomore Jason Klontz (Redmond, Ore.) cut into the Mountaineers' lead with a lay-up with 24 seconds remaining before senior Kevin Van Hook (Silverdale, Wash.) hit a fall away 3-pointer at the buzzer. EOU took a 21-point lead (52-31) into the locker room.

In the opening minute-plus of the second half, each team traded free throws and buckets before Eastern Oregon began to slowly close the door and extend its lead. The Mountaineer lead ballooned to as much as 39 (97-58) thanks to back-to-back free throws by Vernon Cropper with 1:46 left in the game. Senior Nate Morris (Dufur, Ore.) scored the game's final two points for Corban with a pair of free throws before Eastern Oregon missed its final three shots for the final margin of 37 (97-60).

Sophomore Garrett Kauffman (Sweet Home, Ore.) added 8 points off the bench for the Warriors on 3-for-5 shooting from the field, while Klontz, Van Hook, and sophomore Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) pitched in with 7 points each.

As a team, Corban shot 18-for-51 (35.3%) from the field, including 18-for-25 (72.0%) from the free throw line. Eastern Oregon shot 36-for-72 (50.0%) from the field, including 23-for-27 (85.2%) from the charity stripe.

Eastern Oregon was led by Neil Fryer's game-high 26 points off the bench on 7-for-12 shooting from the field and a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line. Five other Mountaineers -- Mark Carollo, Tanner McIntosh, Paul Carollo, Derek Brown, and Cropper -- added 14, 12, 10, 10, and 10 points respectively, while Paul Carollo grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds (6 offensive, 7 defensive).
