Three players score ten-or-more points in loss

OLYMPIA, Wash. -
Junior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.), senior Hannes Gehring (Lake Oswego, Ore.), and freshman Ian Logan (Aloha, Ore.) each scored 10-plus points, but Corban's men's basketball team fell to the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College, 84-71, Friday night inside the Green House.
Douglas led the Warriors with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Gehring and Logan added 12 points each as Corban opened the 2007-08 Cascade Collegiate Conference season with a setback to the host Geoducks.
Despite shooting 24-for-30 (80.0%) from the free throw line, Corban could not overcome 35 made field goals from Evergreen in the 13-point victory for the host team.
Along with the trio's performances, junior Kyle Masten (Salem, Ore.) and freshman Clay Martin (Beaverton, Ore.) added 8 and 7 points respectively. The Warriors' second leading scorer -- senior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) -- was held to a mere four points on 1-for-6 shooting from the field including 0-for-2 from beyond the three-point line.
On the boards, Logan aided Douglas' game-high cause with nine rebounds of his own while Gehring and Sisler pulled down four boards each to go along with Douglas' team-high two assists.
For Evergreen, Nathan Menefee led all players with 24 points while Julio Feliciano, David Howard, and Nick Moore added 14, 11, and 11 points respectively. Moore grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds, while Feliciano and Thomas Cook added 8 and 6 boards respectively.
As a team, Corban ended the night shooting 22-for-64 (34.4%) from the field to go along with the team's 3-for-13 (23.1%) performance from beyond the arc. On the other hand, Evergreen turned in a 35-for-74 (47.3%) performance from the field, 4-for-15 (25.0%) showing from behind the 3-point line, and a combined 10-for-14 (71.4%) output from the free throw line.
With the loss, Corban falls to 2-4 overall, 0-1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Evergreen remains unbeaten at 4-0 overall, 1-0 in CCC action. The Warriors will conclude its conference opening weekend in the state of Washington on Saturday, December 1st, when Corban goes head-to-head with the Eagles of Northwest University beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Kirkland, Washington.
