OREGON CITY, Ore. - Future Corban men's basketball teammates Nash Keene (Aumsville, Ore.) and Clay Martin (Aloha, Ore.) were named Star of Stars for their respective divisions at the conclusion of the OACA Gatorade All-Star Series played both Friday at Northwest Christian and Saturday at Clackamas Community College.

Keene, a 2007 graduate of nearby Cascade High School, received the award following the conclusion of the 4A series, where the 6-foot shooting guard combined to score a team-best 23 points on 10-for-24 shooting from the field over the two days. Keene scored a game-high 11 points on Friday at Northwest Christian in his team's victory and another team-high 12 points on Saturday at Clackamas despite the North falling, 91-73, to the South squad.

Martin, a recent graduate of Aloha High School, took home the 6A honor after turning in a combined 31 points on 13-for-30 shooting from the field. The 6-foot-1 point guard scored 13 points on Friday in helping the 6A North squad defeat the 6A South team before coming back with a team-high 18 points on Saturday despite the South returning the favor thanks to a 105-95 victory.

"Both Nash and Clay earned the awards due to their hustle over the two-day event," commented Justin Sherwood, who is beginning his sixth year as head men's basketball coach at Corban. "I enjoyed watching them play this weekend and cannot wait to see what they will do next year when they put on the Warrior navy and gold."

The was the 35th year that the Oregon Athletic Coaches' Association (OACA) put on this event, but the first-ever North versus South match ups. Friday's games were played in Eugene at Northwest Christian College, while Saturday's contests were played in Oregon City at Clackamas Community College.

Along with Keene and Martin, future Warriors Bryan Martin (Salem, Ore.) and Andrew Shipley (Jacksonville, Ore.) took part in the 2A games with Shipley scoring 11 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the field and Martin turning in a 9-point, 6-rebound, 4-assist performance on 2-for-5 shooting from the field, as the South earned the series sweep with a 96-82 victory.

Along with the players competing on the court, current Corban men's and women's golf coach Ron Sisler, who is also the varsity boys' basketball coach at Santiam Christian High School, helped lead the 3A South squad to a come-from-behind victory, 103-102, on Friday before earning the series sweep with another win on Saturday, 73-66.

Corban's men's basketball team opens the 2007-08 season against first-year program, Portland Bible College, inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center at 7:30 p.m. on a date still to be determined.
