Quartet of players score in double figures in loss

PORTLAND, Ore. – A quartet of Warriors led by junior Wade Douglas' (Ontario, Ore.) team-high 21 points scored in double figures, but Corban's men's basketball team fell to the Knights of Warner Pacific, 110-84, Saturday inside the C.C. Perry Gym.
Along with Douglas, freshman Clay Martin (Beaverton, Ore.), junior Jason Braun (Dallas, Ore.), and sophomore Paul Martin (Beaverton, Ore.) added 17, 12, and 10 points respectively as nine-out-of-ten Warriors scored at least two points against Warner Pacific.
One night after snapping a mini-three-game losing streak, Corban could not overcome a hot shooting Warner Pacific squad that shot an amazing 51.8% (43-for-83) from the field including 22-for-40 (55.0%) in the opening half.
After the first twenty minutes, Warner Pacific led by 17 points (53-36) and then extended its lead to the final margin of 26 points thanks to a 57-point second half.
Paul Martin led the Warriors with a team-best seven rebounds, while Clay Martin and Douglas pulled down four and three boards respectively. Freshman Bryan Martin (Salem, Ore.) handed out a team-high four assists, while four other Warriors registered three assists each.
For Warner Pacific, Scott O'Gallagher and Josh Jackson recorded a game-high 22 points each while Jalonta Martin registered a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
As a team, Corban shot 29-for-70 (41.4%) from the field including 4-for-19 (21.1%) from beyond the arc and 22-for-29 (75.9%) from the free throw line. On the other hand, Warner Pacific aided its shooting from the field with a 12-for-29 (41.4%) showing from three-point land and a perfect 12-for-12 from the charity stripe.
With the loss, Corban falls to 7-11 overall, 2-6 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Meanwhile, Warner Pacific improves to 10-7 overall, 3-5 in CCC action. The Warriors will hit the hardwood again on Friday, January 18th, when Corban host the NAIA's No. 3-ranked Mountaineers of Eastern Oregon beginning at 7:30 p.m. inside the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.
