PENDLETON, Ore. – Senior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.) shot an even-par round of 72 and freshman Elizabeth Sherwin (Gresham, Ore.) carded a school-record 21-over 93 at The Golf Course at Wild Horse Resort & Casino Saturday, as Corban's men's and women's golf teams competed in a dual match with Lewis-Clark State.
After playing a dual match with fellow conference member Northwest Christian on Monday, Corban came back from a dismal performance and posted its second lowest team total in program history with a combined 9-over 297 and fell by a mere six strokes to the NAIA's No. 15-ranked Warriors of Lewis-Clark State.
Along with Sisler, sophomore Nicholas Schroeder (Silverton, Ore.), senior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.), and freshman Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) rounded out the Warriors' scoring with scores of 1-over 73, 2-over 74, and 6-over 78 respectively.
Junior Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) and sophomore Jonathan McGuire (Canby, Ore.) rounded out Corban's roster with individual scores of 10-over 82 and 15-over 87.
On the women's side, Sherwin's school-record performance went along with sophomore Jordon Weldon's (Klamath Falls, Ore.) 28-over 100 and freshman Morgan Bars' (Grants Pass, Ore.) 41-over 113 respectively.
As a team, Corban shot a 93-over 309 but the score did not count as the Warriors did not field a full four-person team against Lewis-Clark State's women's squad.
Corban will return to the links during the spring season when the Warriors host the third conference tournament of the year on Monday and Tuesday, March 24th & 25th, at Diamond Woods Golf Course in Monroe.
