Warriors drop dual match to Northwest Christian

CRESWELL, Ore. – Despite cold temperatures, rainy conditions, and a 7-over 79 from sophomore Nicholas Schroeder (Silverton, Ore.), Corban's men's and women's golf teams dropped a dual match to the Beacons of Northwest Christian on Monday at Emerald Valley Golf Course.

On the men's side, Northwest Christian had a pair of players -- tournament medalist Justin Ahrens (1-over 73) and Brent McKee (2-over 74) -- shoot close to par, while Schroeder was the lone Warrior to finish in the 70s.

Freshman Steve Landis (Gladstone, Ore.) and sophomore Jonathan McGuire (Canby, Ore.) turned in scores of 12-over 84 and 14-over 86 respectively, while senior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) rounded out the Warriors' scoring with an 18-over 90 for a team total of 51-over 339 compared to NCC's 46-over 334.

Junior Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) rounded out Corban's roster with a 20-over 92 to finish tied for seventh.

On the women's side, freshman Elizabeth Sherwin (Gresham, Ore.) finished two strokes off the lead with a school-record tying 27-over 100, as Northwest Christian's Reanna Huston earned medalist honors with a 25-over 98.

Corban sophomore Jordon Weldon (Klamath Falls, Ore.) and freshman Morgan Bars (Grants Pass, Ore.) rounded out the Warriors' scoring with scores of 30-over 103 and 52-over 125 respectively.

As a team, Corban shot a 109-over 328 compared to Northwest Christian's 99-over 318. The Beacons' Jordan Howell and Colleen Koopal each carded identical scores of 37-over 110 to finish tied for fourth individually.

Corban will conclude its fall season on Saturday, November 3rd, when both the men's and women's teams go head-to-head with the Warriors of Lewis-Clark State in a dual match at Wildhorse Resort & Casino Golf Course beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Pendleton.
