LEBANON, Ore. – Freshman Nicholas Schroeder (Silverton, Ore.) shot a 6-over 78, but it was not enough as Corban's men's & women's golf teams finished third behind Central Oregon Community College and Concordia at the Fall Finisher that was played at Mallard Creek Golf Course on Saturday.

In its last tournament of the fall season, Corban rebounded from its worst outing of the season (an 84-over 372) during the final round of the Concordia Fall Finisher earlier this week. Despite playing without a full squad, the Warrior trio of Schroeder, junior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.), and sophomore Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) combined for a 31-over 247. Unfortunately, it was not enough as Central Oregon Community College shot a 4-over 220 to win the three-way tournament over Concordia and Corban.

Schroeder began the day with three bogeys over his first six holes, but rebounded with a birdie 2 on the 192-yard par 3 7th. The first-year player finished the front nine with back-to-back pars for an out score of 2-over 38. On the back nine, Schroeder pared four out of the first five holes before bogeying three of his closing four holes for a score of 4-over 40. Schroeder ends the fall season with a team-best average of 79.50 in his first four rounds of competitive collegiate golf.

Greenslade was 4-over through the first six holes and then alternated pars and bogeys over the final four holes for a front nine score of 6-over 42. On the back nine, the junior pared his first six holes before struggling with two bogeys in his last three holes for a score of 2-over 38.

Furumasu struggled throughout the day with his putter, as he used 89 strokes to finish the eighteen holes including 40 putts. The second-year player bogeyed 11 holes, including a stretch of four straight to open the back nine.

On the men's side, Central Oregon's David Mattie took medallist honors with a 1-under 71, while fellow teammate Raun Atkinson turned in a score of 1-over 73. Concordia was lead by sophomore Marc Arima's 3-over 75, while Brad Bachman finished with an identical 3-over 75 score.

Corban's freshmen Jennifer Talburt (Roseburg, Ore.) turned in her best score as a collegiate golfer with a 31-over 103. In her first four rounds of collegiate play, Talburt paced the women's program with an average of 109.50.

Corban concluded its fall season with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finish in its three tournaments. The Warriors will return in March to kickoff the spring season.
