Warriors open fall season with 5th place finish at Corban Invitational

MONROE, Ore. – In its first match of the fall season, Corban’s men’s golf team hosted a five-team tournament on Monday morning at Diamond Woods Golf Course in Monroe, Oregon, and under the guidance of first-year head Ron Sisler, finished 5th at the 1st Annual Corban Invitational.

Sisler’s son and junior Ben Sisler (Corvallis, Ore.), paced the Warriors with a team-leading seven-over 79, while sophomore Jason Swank (Albany, Ore.), freshman Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.), and sophomore Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) shot 82, 88, and 91 respectively en route to a team-total of 340.

“The guys played well,” said Sisler.  “This is our first match of the season and I know that a lot more will come out of these individuals during the remainder of our fall season tournaments.”

Central Oregon Community College won the invitational with a team-total of 301, while Linfield (307), Willamette (312), and Concordia-Portland (317) round out the top four finishers.

Marc Arima of Concordia-Portland won medalist honors with a two-under 70, which was one stroke better than Tyral Peterson of Central Oregon Community College.

Corban will hit the links again on Monday, October 31st, in a two-team tournament against Concordia (Ore.) at Riverside Country Club in Portland.
