| Douglas paces Warriors to victory over Concordia

SALEM, Ore. – Junior Wade Douglas (Ontario, Ore.) carted a 4-over 76 and freshman Nicholas Schroeder (Silverton, Ore.) turned in a 6-over 78 to lead Corban's golf team to a dual-match victory over the Cavaliers of Concordia on Monday at Creekside Golf Course.
Teeing it up for the first time this fall, Corban put together a full squad, while Concordia was only able to bring three golfers due to mid-terms this week.
Douglas, who was playing in the third position for the Warriors, began the day with back-to-back pars before bogeying the 149-yard par 3 third hole. Despite being 1-over through the first three holes, Douglas came back on the 480-yard par 4 fourth and carted his lone birdie of the day to get back to even par. Over the final five holes on the front nine, Douglas shot even par to finish the front nine with an even par 36. Douglas was even through the first thirteen holes before turning in a bogey on the 219-yard par 3 fourteenth and a double bogey on the 425-yard par 4 fifteenth. Over the final five holes, the transfer from Treasure Valley Community College limped in with at 3-over to finish the back nine with a 4-over 40 for his eighteen hole score of 4-over 76.
Schroeder parred the first two holes before going plus-five over the next four holes. The first-year player finished the front nine with three straight pars to go out in a score of 3-over-39. After opening the back nine with three straight pars, Schroeder turned in a bogey on the 576-yard par 5 thirteenth before recording pars on 14, 15, and 16. Schroeder concluded his round with back-to-back bogeys to finish with another 3-over 39 for a total of 6-over 78.
Junior Josh Greenslade (Spokane, Wash.) turned in the other score that counted towards the team total with a 17-over 89. Sophomore Nathan Furumasu (Gladstone, Ore.) and freshman Tyler Dean (Klamath Falls, Ore.) ended their first competitive rounds of the season with a 21-over 92 and a 28-over 110 respectively.
For the first time ever, Corban carried a women's team with freshmen Jennifer Talburt (Roseburg, Ore.) and Maria Tracy (Stateline, Nev.) touting the bags. Talburt turned in a 28-over 110, while Tracy carted a 45-over 127.
For Concordia, Dan Scobie led the Cavaliers with a 9-over 81, while Marc Arima and Matt Guthrie each carted 10-over 82s.
As a team, the Warriors ended the dual-match with a team score of 27-over 243 to beat the Cavaliers by two strokes.
