NEWBERG, Ore. – Three women's golfers took to the links at Chehalem Glenn Golf Course on Sunday afternoon, as Corban's women's golf team competed in the George Fox Five-Way Invitational with freshman Morgan McComish (Salem, Ore.) leading the way for the Warriors with a tie for 11th individually.

Playing the toughest rated golf course in the state of Oregon, Corban went head-to-head with four other NCAA Division III schools that included tournament-host George Fox, Linfield, cross town rival Willamette, and Lewis & Clark.

Under overcast skies with occasional rain, the Warriors battled through slow fairway and soft greens with McComish posting her third best round of the season.

The first-year player carded a 25-over 97 on the afternoon that included a birdie on the par 3 16th hole after sticking her tee shot within four feet of the cup.

"I was pleased with how I struck the ball today," commented McComish. "My problem happened on the green, as I just could not putt."

Fellow freshman Amber Meeker (St. Helens, Ore.) continued to improve from round-to-round, as the 5-foot-7 first-year player finished 18th overall after posting a score of 42-over 114.

Junior Stefani Pickett (Hillsboro, Ore.) rounded out the competitors for the Warriors, as she competed in her first-ever tournament for the Warriors and posted an 18-hole score of 61-over 133.

"I was pleased with what I saw today," said assistant coach Mark Colachico. "The women are continuing to improve round-by-round, while representing the college and athletic department with Christ-like attitudes no matter what obstacle is thrown in their path."

Corban's women's team will tee it up for the final time during the fall season in a dual match with fellow conference member Northwest Christian on Saturday, October 18th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell.
